Dear Members and Friends,
First Unitarian Universalist Church of Austin is more than a building or place to gather on
Sundays; it's a community. Ours is a church committed not only to its members, but also to the
world around us. Together, we help each other travel our own individual spiritual paths while
striving to make the world a better place for all. Our hopes and dreams for the community, the
church, ourselves and our loved ones are as big as our hearts.
In our hands, we hold the power to
improve our community, create the First UU we envision, and nurture this vibrant spiritual home
for liberal religion we are building. The church derives 80 percent of its annual budget from the
pledges of members and friends. Your tax- deductible contribution enables the support of our
ministries and programs. The more you give, the more you receive. Ask yourself, what is the
value of the church and its programs to you? Do you, like others, embrace wants and wishes for
First UU? How much more can you afford to
give so that the church can afford to become what you envision? Levels of giving vary, but a
pledge of 5 percent of income is suggested. We urge you to pledge generously. What we make
of First UU rests with us. Together, we can build a better future for our community.
Mark Kilpatrick, First UU President
